Betty MacDonald's very witty sister Alison Bard Burnett tells the most interesting stories in Wolfgang Hampel's Betty MacDonald Fan Club Interviews, especially about Betty MacDonald and her first husband Robert Eugene Heskett. Sister Dede, whose real name is Dorothea Bard Goldsmith, was very brave. It was a very diffcult time for Betty MacDonald and she can be very glad that she had a family and sisters like this.
As an other Betty MacDonald Fan Club member wrote: Alison Bard Burnett is a wordpainter like her famous sisters Betty MacDonald and Mary Bard. She paints very colourful portraits of the Bards, the Kettles and the real story of Nancy and Plum and Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle.

It's not a surprise at all that Darsie Beck's Auntie Betty MacDonald was crazy about him. You only have to read Darsie Beck's childhood memories on Vashon Island, published on Betty MacDonald Fan Club Website. What a gifted personality! An outstanding writer and artist! After you' ve read Darsie Beck's book you know what really important in life is. Thank you so much, dear Darsie Beck! Betty MacDonald had a very good taste.

Thank you so much, dear Wolfgang Hampel for writing the Betty MacDonald biography and interviewing Alison Bard Burnett and Betty MacDonald's and Mary Bard's family and friends. Without Wolfgang Hampel's great activity and ability to ask excellent questions these unique Betty MacDonald Memories were gone. I can imagine very well how Alison Bard Burnett and Wolfgang Hampel hurried through Seattle using Alison's old Volkswagen (VW). Those were the days Seattle never forgot. Such a wild couple!
